About thefalls

A "short" timeline: 2007 Lasse and Mirza play some guitar in a basement and think about how awesome it would be if people could actually hear them. 2008 Mirza moves to the bass and Andreas is brought in to scream his lungs out. Eventually, Lasse lures Espen in to become the drummer under false pretenses. He is promised many wonderful things, none of which are even remotely true. The band agree that songs are a big plus, so they start writing some. A practice space is obtained – it begins. 2009 The band take some pictures to prove their existence. They also finish writing their first song (a mere 10 minutes of chaotic, loud noises and grunts) and actually manage to make a pretty decent recording of it – before promptly getting kicked out of their practice room. Tears are shed, but the brave, handsome men quickly regroup at a new locale. 2010 Another year, another song. Sensing a pattern emerging, the band are only slightly surprised to once again become homeless after recording some more cacophony. Where others would give up and call it a day, the band persevere and battle on. After several months on the streets, they are finally rewarded with a new home – one where they still reside. Sure, it's small and they share it with another band, but you won't hear them complaining! No siree, Bob. 2011 The year of turmoil, also known as The Dark Ages. Settled at last, the band set out to continue their tradition of recording a new masterpiece every eleven months. They manage to stay put this time around, but are left a member short when Andreas becomes a family man. Large chunks of the year are spent trying to figure out how best to rally the troops and enquiries are made all over the place. In the end, Kristoffer fills the void left after Andreas and Kenneth steps in on guitar to complete the current line-up. 2012 The year of thefalls. All the time spent honing their skills and completing the cast turn out to be worth it. They continue writing, practicing, planning and preparing for bigger things. An unfortunate accident involving a bicycle and Kristoffer's face postpones some of the plans, but good things sometimes do come to those who wait. The band release their first single in the form of 'These Ghosts Are Real' and they finally grace the stage with their first ever concert in the waning months of the year. Big plans are made for the future. 2013 The year of playing live. The band punishes their audience with much noise and partial nudity on stage and find their name on posters with bands like Benea Reach, Kambodsja, Next Life and others. They see it fit to finish writing enough material for an album and pat themselves on the back for it. Good job, guys. 2014 The band share the stage with Kvelertak and decide to record their debut album. Their recording studio suddenly decides to die and delete the work in progress. Months passed, and the band heroically picked themselves up and steadily finished the album. December sees the release of 'Break the Calm', the intricate sludge outcome of all the years of bizarre (gardening) accidents, getting repeatedly kicked out and unfriendly software. Total world domination ensues. The official Facebook page for the Norwegian sludge metal/mathcore band thefalls. Debut album 'Break The Calm' out now.
