About Adam Fitz Music
Adam Fitz was raised on the music of seminal songwriters that resonated through his blue-collared, childhood home on Chicago’s South Side. The likes of Tom Waits, Van Morrison and John Prine shaped his taste and inspired Fitz to write honest songs and find his soulful and emotional voice. As a performer, Fitz and his band frequented historic Chicago clubs starting in 2005 when he released his debut album.
With a recent relocation to the Pittsburgh area, Fitz draws inspiration from the songwriters he grew up listening to and marries that with the indie sounds that he discovered as a long time record store clerk. Fitz' full-bodied rasp and storytelling has found him compared to John Fogerty by TimeOut Chicago and Rod Stewart by the Chicago Reader. Fitz has supported such soul greats as Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Syl Johnson and Roscoe Robinson, as well as rock groups like Spoon, and the Smoking Popes. Fitz later released a live album (2009) and another studio album (2013) as well as a handful of singles.
In 2010 Fitz paused the pursuit of music and enrolled in school to study education. He got married, started a family and tried to pay his bills on time. Today Fitz is a father of two, works as a teacher in Pittsburgh, and has been finding his place within the rich Western PA music scene. The journey into fatherhood and education has left Adam with a fresh batch of original songs as well as newfound dynamics in his vocal delivery. In a live setting, Fitz showcases patience and a trained confidence contrasted by the explosive vocal bursts of his earlier performances. Adam currently performs solo or with a small ensemble. His shows draw from album staples, re-imaginations of covers you may/or may not know, and brand new material inspired by the hills of Pennsylvania and the balance of youth and responsibility. Since moving to PA, Fitz has performed more than 50 shows from farmers markets to bars and festivals. Weathered and sincere, Fitz’ voice is one you must hear.
