The HU

I'm from mongolia, Absolutely unreal. One of the most powerful live performances I’ve ever experienced. THE HU are on a completely different level live — the throat singing, morin khuur, heavy riffs and drums hit you with an energy that recordings simply can’t capture. As a Mongolian, seeing our language, traditional instruments and culture carried with this much pride and power was incredibly emotional. They don’t just play rock music they make you feel the history, spirit and strength of Mongolia through every song. The energy on August 8 was insane from beginning to end. THE HU don’t just perform a concert; they create an experience. I walked out feeling proud, overwhelmed and honestly still not over it. If you ever get the chance to see THE HU live, GO. 10/10.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed The Hu! We didn’t just listen to music being played, we felt it. It felt great and powerful. The two opening bands, The Rasmus and Apocalyptica, were also great and they added to the evening's experience. Prior to the show we had dinner at Rim Asian Bistro at Grand Sierra Resort. The sushi was excellent and the service was fantastic as well. We would be happy to see these bands perform again. We also look forward to attending more shows at the Grand Theatre at Grand Sierra Resort.

I've been wishing I could meet Galaa & Jaya since shortly after discovering the band 18+ months ago. It was so exciting to be able to meet the 4 main band members & even give those 2 a hug. The concert itself was amazing! & we thoroughly enjoyed the other bands as well. ~ The venue was just the right size for 2 over 60 ladies w anxiety & health issues. The staff were very helpful & accommodating of the fact my spine doctor & PT insisted I use a Rollator walker 4 this trip so as not to undo months of PT by standing too long. 1 staff member even made sure I got 1 of the set lists afterwards. I definitely want to see The HU again if they make it to a small venue in Southern New England again, especially if it's this venue. ❤️☺️❤️

They sang for 45 minutes as the opening act. There wasn't anything wrong but they didn't really catch fire. They ran through their songs, yelled a few phrases in English (their songs need subtitles on a screen somewhere), then that was it. Closer-up, they were more fun to watch, but further away, very little energy was projected. The guy next to me said they've had basically the same act for 5-6 years now; they need to change it up at some point and I agree. The throat singing, the lyrics in Mongolian, the cool outfits and instruments are all good but - now what? The difference between them and the main band, Iron Maiden, was astonishing. Iron Maiden fairly poured out energy and their stage presence was arresting.

The show was great😀. The HU was perfectly prepared for the performance. We like so much the mix of throat singing, folk instruments and the power of metal music. The atmosphere, music were perfect. Very good, energetic and dynamic combination. It doesn’t matter that we don’t know the Mongolian language 😉 We are waiting for more… We are old generation of fans so the SaSaZu club, the organization of the concert were ok for us.

The Hu were amazing but I'd like to know why none of the technical (side and back display) were not on or working (they worked fine for Iron Maiden). I would have like to see them up close but none of that was on. Getting in and out was fairly easy (granted we came early and left early). Also there were lots of obvious smoking especially right in front of our ADA section and we told a "security guard" who ignored us until finally another guy (not with us) began yelling they are smoking right in-front of our handicap section..do something and he sort of had to. These guys had their cigarettes right out in the open where this guard could easily see them but he chose to ignore it until enough people complained. Lastly water was not allowed in even though the venue said it was (closed bottle). My daughter needs purified water (no flouride) for medical reasons but we weren't allowed. I was told there is water inside but once inside there was not regular bottled water to purchase only canned and my disabled daughter cannot drink it as i looked it up and it is listed as containing high amount of flouride. There were no canned sodas but tap which means mixed with municipal water which also contains flouride. Otherwise the Hu themselves were great!

The HU were great and, as always, gave it their all. However, the venue was less than perfect. I am not sure about the sound because I was on the VIP balcony and the speakers were directed towards the main area, so it was impossible to get the "right" sound. What I can tell is that the visual side of the show was terrible - it was way too smoky and dark most of the time. Although the size of the stage cannot be helped, it was cramped, thus making the drummers and guitarists invisible. I believe this could have been prevented with proper lighting. I have been to their shows in Sweden and Germany before, so I have some comparison of the quality of lighting solutions. Had it been my first time to see them, I would have been gravely disappointed. Despite the somewhat distorted sound on the VIP balcony and inadequate visual solution, I enjoyed The HU very much purely thanks to their music and professionalism. :)

Amazing concert! If you haven't seen The HU live, you're missing out on some serious talent and entertainment. Their sound is a unique blend of Mongolian folk music and traditional instruments with a serious dose of heavy metal. Not too many of the audience could speak the language, but everyone could understand the passion and intensity of the music. I'd seen them a few days earlier at Knotfest and their engagement with the crowd was one of the highlights of the event. This was a smaller venue and they had a longer set - every song was a crowd pleaser and they brought the same level of energy as they had to the big outdoor stage. The venue was interesting - fairly compact with limited facilities and the queue to enter was rather long. Easy to get to by public transport. Sound system was reasonable for the size of the stage.

Have been to thousands of gigs since my year 12 in '83 & The HU tonight rates as one of the best. Like Shamans from Central Asia's Stepps, The HU had us all entranced from the first song's opening cords to the last. Songs were sang with deep guttural throat Mongol passion, traditional instruments could reproduce the whinnies of the Mongol Stepp Ponies to rapid fire violin like power chords. There were two drum kits, one traditional, plus a rhythm section of bass & Les Paul. All combined to produce the energy & rock comparable to well known stadium metal bands, such as Metallica. But the music & lyrics of The HU's material is built as an inspiration to a nation of disenfranchised people whose ancestors once brought fear across Asia into Western Europe. The HU tonight could now without doubt fill stadiums across the World with adoring fans from many nations, uniting as perhaps Genghis Khan had once intended - Check 'em out...

I've seen a lot of arena shows of the biggest bands and these guys here put on a better show than any one of them. I will absolutely see them every opportunity I get. It's so obvious they love what they do and they love their music and culture. If you have the opportunity, don't miss them. Even if the lineup is meh, The HU will make it money and time well spent.

It was my first metal gig... At 61 and an avid concert goer I have never been to a metal gig... OMG this wasn't just a gig this was an AWESOME experience... From start to finish The Hu had the crowd in the palm of their hands... I headbanged all night along with the rest... We had a mosh pit and a conga line going... The band were on fire... I would go back to see them in a heartbeat...

Amazing concert! I've been a fan since I first heard them at the end of April this year. Since then I've been looking forward to seeing The HU perform live in person one day! My long-cherished dream has finally come true! The show in Paris was perfect and all band members did their best. And as for my personal suggestion, I wish they could have played longer and performed more songs from their new album. If I get the chance to see The HU live again in the future I will definitely go!

very good band, such a great energy and they have music that sounds like nothing else, and that music is amazing in my opinion. I was told I'd have to fight a 6' Mongolian at the bar to get a beer but that just never happened, we only pushed each other in the mosh. If you have the chance to see this band and either you like rock/metal/mongolian, you will not be dissapointed

The performance was great, but they didn't event play a half hour. 4-5 song set. Energetic and engaging, great musicians and performers, and certainly hope to see them perform a full show at some point. My buddy I went with only really wanted to see The HU and was super disappointed. I'm happy I had Megadeth as well, but for HU fans, a performance this short had to be disappointing.

This show EASILY made my top 3 shows of all time!! The band was extremely energetic, and you can tell they really put their heart and soul into every song. The crowd was a little nervous during the first song (i believe due to the language barrier) but The Hu came out and gave it 1000% right out the gate, and it wasn't long before everyone around me had their fists in the air every time "HU!" Came echoing across the building. I don't say this often, but being in the Filmore and seeing these guys play their music was a Spiritual Experience. I will forever come to see these guys whenever they hit the states. I hope that they continue to put this much love into everything that they do.

The show phenomenail! One of the most interesting thing about the show was that it was barely mentioned locally, yet that was the fullest I have ever seen the "State Theater." There were people there from all walks of life and most of them were talking in line about "The HU," which stretched all the way around the corner and down to the church. I heard some saying that it was a sold out show. It was non-stop energy from the moment they took the stage until the end. I never left to get another beer or anything. When I did finally get up, I realized that I really had to pee. The opening band, "The Haunt," was good too. The singer and the their drummer are the most talented I thought. I would like to have talked to them but I wanted to get out of town before getting caught in the traffic from the show.

The Hu performs well, the music and the atmosphere were awesome in the energy and there dedication to the music and sound they represented. I could not have been more pleased with there show. I was disappointed I. How badly the sound mixing was done with the opening act. Honestly, I didn't even know the lead singer was singing except to see her moving around on stage, and I had no idea if I liked there music, the base and drum drowned everything out. Couldn't hear or understand the lead guitar when he added vocals and I didn't hear the lead vocals unless the base wasn't playing g at all.They could learn a lot from the Hu and how much cleaner there sounds we're and how much better they were at getting the voices projected over the music to really make it a well rounded and good show.

Honestly, I can't begin to express how excellent this show was. The band is tight, talented, charismatic and so, so fun! The crowd was fully engaged, everyone left with big grins on their faces. The venue is pretty good, my sole complaint is that there was a amplifier mounted on stage left, so from the right side of the audience, several performers were completely blocked from view. That was pretty uncool, especially for the musicians who were blocked from view. Other than that, the sound was good, the lighting was excellent. The Hu: A+++++ The venue: B+

I had an awesome time! The HU has amazing energy, and did a great job trying to engage with us even though they don’t really speak English (to my knowledge). I love them!! My experience lost half a star because I felt that the Seattle crowd was a bit uptight, and the tallest guy in the room stood directly in front of me (he almost stood on my feet really) so I was a bit distracted trying not to be squished by him.

Amazing concert. The audience that attended was excited and definitely here for all of The HU, not just for Yuve Yuve Yu and/or Wolf Totem. This made for one hell of an excited crowd, lots of cheering and brotherhood. Everyone was united under the banner of Hunnu Rock. The only reason that I cannot give five stars is because of the venue. The place was too small, too warm and too dense. Because of the place being so small the smoke combined with the red lights obstructed the view of the band. One final thing which must not be forgotten is the encore. The HU had left the stage with the last pictures being taken. The crowd, however, had not finished, and as they wear chanting “HU! HU! HU!” The band came back on stage to play Yuve Yuve Yu another time! I had an amazing time and will definitely visit their next show in the Netherlands. My favourite song was Uchirtai gurav. Till next time!
