About Amity the band

In July 2013 “Wake Up Call” was completed at Sonic Ranch Recording Studios in Tornillo, TX. “Wake Up Call” was released as a solo project due to Mishael writing the lyrical content and recording most of the instrumentation on the album. Gabe Esparza was the main tracking engineer of the album. Mishael was focused on performing the songs of the album live but he didn’t have a band at the time. Gabe was the first person to officially join the band as the bassist. Mishael then reached out to long time friends Isaac Almodovar and Ivan Valenzuela. Isaac and Mishael have literally known each other their entire lives. They both grew up playing in church together and they see each other like brothers. Isaac joined the band as the drummer while “Wake Up Call” was being mixed by Stephen Short at Sonic Ranch. When Mishael was 18, he had met Ivan in the studio while working and recording with a band. Through the years, they continued to play in different bands together. Ivan also recorded keys on a few songs on “Wake Up Call” and joined the band officially after the album was completed. After spending almost one year rehearsing, the band learned that local radio station(El Paso, TX) 92.3FM The Fox, was holding a battle of the bands (Battle on The Border) at Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino. When signing up for the event, Mishael was asked for the band’s name. They had concentrated so much on rehearsing and becoming a band, that they had never thought of a band name. Since the event was held at a casino, Mishael Coss & The Jackpots seemed most appropriate. In June 2014, the band won that battle of the bands.
Since then Mishael Coss & The Jackpots have been playing shows and have been working at pushing themselves as a band. In August 2016, the band decided to change their name to one that better reflected their growth as people, friends and musicians. Now performing as Amity. The band is working on new music and they are excited for what is yet to come….
