Jazzlight

Jazzlight plays cheerful, swinging and danceable jazz music that harks back to the days of playful and slightly naughty jazzladies from the ‘20s and ‘30s. Their love for this style of music led them to Annette Hanshaw, a once hugely popular but nowadays almost forgotten singer from the Jazz Age. Supported by cc De Kern, Jill Suykerbuyk (voice), Kristof Elst (piano), Robbe Maselis (bass) and Eneas Van der Straeten (drums) bring Annette Hanshaw’s music back into the limelight, both on stage and in the street. In the past, Jazzlight played at the Luisterplein during the Gentse Feesten, the STUK in Leuven, the Guinguettes in Antwerp and in a number of cultural centers around Flanders. During the summer of 2013 they also took their music to the streets of Southern France during a two-week tour. Their first EP "That's All!" was released in the summer of 2013 and focuses on the music of Annette Hanshaw which the band transcribed and arranged from Annette's original recordings.
