About Zero Gravity Circus

After eight years of musical collaboration, experimentation, and honing of craft, the four original members of Seattle’s former Broken Bottle Band have added to their lineup, intensified their sound, and united in 2009 to form the jam rock quintet, Zero Gravity Circus. Through the past half-decade, these young musicians have added sonically and philosophically to their sounds, ideas, and goals. The new force that has arisen both harkens back to the pure musicianship of groups like The Allman Brothers and The Grateful Dead, while consistently tackling the progression of rock, evolving the proven forms into contemporary experimentation. Zero Gravity Circus is bringing back high energy rock, going new places, and not looking back… While originally inspired by classic rock-god guitarists like Hendrix and Garcia, lead guitarist Adam Williams has since spent five years in the Deep South. His time in New Orleans has indoctrinated the primal American art forms of jazz and blues into his playing and attitude. Funk, swing, blues, and rock elements have all found permanent homes in his sound, giving Zero Gravity Circus a unique and diverse appeal. Backing Adam is rhythm guitarist Brad DiJulio, an accomplished player in both electric and acoustic settings. Brad’s father Brian, who has a musical background as well playing in a band for a good portion of his life, taught him to play the drums as a kid. The result was a percussionist style of rhythm guitar. Since his early days of playing, Brad has been obsessed with the art of song composition and pens a good portion of the band’s tunes in pursuit of developing his craft. At 16, Sean Lynch began bass lessons with a jazz trumpeter named Jeff Lewis in a small music shop in San Jose, California. Since moving to the Northwest, Lynch has studied under bass virtuosos including Jason Schooler, Anna Doak and Farko Dosumov, as well as the musical mentoring of Laura and David Ash. Though Sean is already an incredible bass player, he is a student of music first and foremost, constantly exploring new musical realms with a fearless yet laid-back attitude. Being exposed to a wide variety of musical styles while studying piano growing up, Tyler Carr has emerged as a monster on the keys in every style of music that Zero Gravity Circus dives into. Playing music in high school with Brad, Adam, and Nick, made Tyler realize that music had to be a central part of his life, a way of expressing himself, and a forum for challenge and creativity. Whether it is a heartfelt ballad or a boogie-down blues, Tyler is guaranteed to filter pure emotion and honesty to his incendiary piano playing on a nightly basis. In May 2011, ZGC added a new member, Andres Lorenz, on drums. Andres hails from Miami, FL. and has been playing drums since he was 12 years old. Andres' main focus is to "keep it simple and in the pocket", when it comes to playing drums. His influences are too great to list, but has great admiration for drum pioneers like Buddy Rich, Steve Gadd, Mike Clark, David Garibaldi, Neil Peart, & John Bonham. Growing up listening to mostly rock music, Andres has evolved his taste and style of drumming to more jazz, electronic, fusion, and contemporary styles of percussion, studying drum greats like JoJo Mayer, Thomas Lang, Thomas Pridgen, and Tony Royster Jr. After meeting and jamming with ZGC, Andres knew he found something special to be a part of. "There are no limits with ZGC. I have the freedom to play different grooves and styles, which keeps things interesting." 2011 has never been a finer time for these guys to shine. Zero Gravity Circus is riding the Northwest winds this summer, going as far as their fans want to take them. Be ready to experience high flying rock as you’ve never heard or seen before. So step right up, ladies and gents, and get yo’ spot at the Zero Gravity Circus. Melting faces across the Pacific Northwest!
