About SAYAH
SAYAH writes confessional pop songs that make your mum blush.
She’s a trained jazz vocalist and credits Ella Fitzgerald as her first inspiration to dive deep into soul music. She has the unusual ability to play the piano backwards due to hyper-mobile joints but it’s her heart-expanding vocals that have captured the attention of her peers.
Two years ago, SAYAH took a break from releasing her own music to tour with some of Australia’s leading artists including Cosmo’s Midnight, Peking Duk, and Set Mo at some of Australia’s best festivals: Splendour In The Grass, Listen Out, For The Love, and Fresh Produce. She’s also responded to the call to sing on triple j’s Like A Version for the likes of Safia, Thandi Phoenix, KLP, and Cosmo’s Midnight.
Now, SAYAH steps out front of stage with the first track of her own in 2 years, “Fruit”. SAYAH says the song is “about having an insane connection with someone that you’re trying to move on from. There is this push and pull that just won’t go away. You know they’re not good for you and you try everything to forget about them including seeing new people. Wherever you go, whatever you do, they’re always on your mind and it’s so freaking annoying!!! At the same time, you also kinda love it. Ughhh the confusion!!”
