The Orange Feathers

The path was winding and narrow, shadowed by the large peaks of the Organ Mountains in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The four mile hike was seamless and wandering when all of the sudden something bright orange caught the corner of our eyes. It was a mess of feathers, tangled amongst the bushes. Carefully extracting these delicate treasures from the grips of nature, we set out to find more alike but came up empty handed. What bird had left these vibrant feathers? The sun had fallen quickly so we headed back to the truck and put the mystery aside for a couple of days. Back in Las Vegas, Nevada, Matt and I (Miles) were volleying band names back and forth when Matt said, "Hey, why not The Orange Feathers?" The idea was solidified when we discovered two things: 1) The feathers belonged to a unique migratory woodpecker from Canada (how cool is that) and.... 2) An orange feather resembles optimism, ambition, creativity, and independence. (Even cooler) The Orange Feathers was born on a cold November day in 2016. Veering from the normal band setup, the only instruments used are two guitars, two vocals, a kick drum, and a hi-hat. From the pristine harmonies to the thundering kick driven choruses, The Orange Feathers sound takes you from the lowest of lows to the highest of highs. The lyrics are honest, clever, and full of deeper meaning. Combine this with the intricate yet memorable lead lines and you have yourself a dynamic emotional rollercoaster you won't want to miss!
