About Timberwolf

Following his recent appearance with The Hilltop Hoods on feature track ‘Sell It All & Run Away’ at Triple J’s One Night Stand, Adelaide’s critically-acclaimed talent Timberwolf (aka Christopher Panousakis) cements his place as one of South Australia’s most masterful writer/producers with his latest single The Winnie Blues; An irresistibly dry, witty commentary on what most Australians would recognise as their first, or first-of-many trips to tropical paradise.

Earlier in ‘19 you may have caught Timberwolf at his second appearance to a very generous crowd at WOMADelaide Festival, or joining The Paper Kites as main support on their national tour.

To adoring fans, Chris is a song-writer that leaves an impact, and The Winnie Blues carries on from his stunning single Proud Silence, which has been streamed on Spotify alone over 2 million times in half as any years.

His debut album Íkaros saw performances at Canadian Music Week, an appearance on Triple J’s Like A Version, and was rated 4/5 stars by Rolling Stone Magazine, who described the album as a “Glimmering Debut”

The album featured Triple J and community radio favourites “Hold You Up”, “Ikaros” and “Washed Out” on high rotation, collectively clocking over 2.2 million streams on Spotify, and landed Timberwolf support duties for Amy Shark’s sold out national tour. Since emerging in 2015 with debut EP Flux, Timberwolf has pushed boundaries with his unique and crafty compositions, securing himself a well-deserved national fan-base and a publishing deal in 2016 with US Music Publisher Third Side Music (Courtney Barnett, Flying Lotus, BadBadNotGood, Kurt Vile) after a stand-out performance at Brisbane’s BIGSOUND. This quickly culminating in frequent trips between L.A, co-writing with musicians including Jim Fairchild (Modest Mouse), Tommy King (Haim, Madonna, Brandon Flowers).

"Ever since we watched Timberwolf crack through our bleary jet-lagged eyes and ears at 2015's BigSound we knew we had to be involved in bringing Chris's amazing songs to the world. "Something That I Said" in particular has been one we've been anxiously sitting on our hands waiting to be able to share in all its heartbreaking glory. Go break up with someone right now for full effect." - ThirdSide Music

On the stage Timberwolf has played to sold-out crowds across the country at Groovin’ The Moo, WOMADelaide, Big Pineapple and Woodford Folk Festival, as well as supporting the likes of The Tesky Brothers and Lime Cordiale on both their national tours. Having previously taken out Best Songwriter, Best Male Artist and Experimental Music awards at South Australian Music Awards, there’s no doubt Timberwolf is one of Australia's brightest and most engaging young artists.

Now back with a nostalgic must-have for any road trip this summer, and Album #2 on the horizon, Timberwolf is bound for a huge 2020.

"There's a lot of talk about this young Adelaide-based artist, and with good reason - his lyrics are poignant, his music captivating, his motives pure" - Rolling Stone
