About Drum Lessons Mount Pleasant
Born in Memphis, TN, Anthony became steeped in the “Memphis Sound” at an early age shaping his style after such soulful drummers as Al Jackson Jr from Stax and “Pistol” from Motown. Anthony was frequently playing, or watching his influences play at STAX records, Ardent studios and Sun studios. Being born in a musical family, his father and mother had successful careers in the Tony Barrasso Orchestra. He studied music for over 15 years and has been privately taught by Doug Garrison (The Iguanas), Beau Harris and Tom Leonardo (The Duke Ellington Orchestra, Bo Diddley). At 17, he placed top 3 (of 40 entered) in the Ultimate Drummer Contest sponsored by the popular local music store Strings and Things. After, he was active on the Memphis music scene playing live and recording with many great bands until moving to Charleston in 2009. He continues to play locally and regionally and has logged over 15,000 hours of live performance and over 2,500 hours of session playing. He also currently plays on the worship teams in the local church community at Life Park Church in Mt Pleasant and First Baptist Church in Mt Pleasant.
