About Felipe Brito Music

Felipe Brito is a Brazilian Trombonist, Educator, Composer, and Arts Administrator. Felipe is the Assistant Professor of Trombone and Director of Jazz Studies at Southeast Missouri State University. He is also the Development Director at Amistad Caribbean Arts Camp in Cleveland, OH. “Não Deixe para Amanhã” (Don't Put Off Until Tomorrow) is Felipe's debut album. Using a modern jazz language, the project integrates Afro-Brazilian music genres such as samba, bossa nova, maracatu, and alujá. The album will be released in September 2024 by the New Your label Outside in Music. Felipe’s original compositions reflect his life in Brazil and The United States.

Felipe has performed with Branford Marsalis, Robin Eubanks, Raul de Souza, Joe Lovano, Andre Hayward, Jorge Santana, Bobby Sanabria, Nils Landgren, Eddie Montalvo, Bob DeBoo, Tito Rojas, Jiggs Whigham, Anthony McGill, Steven Mead, Michael Davis, Cleveland Opera Theater Orchestra, Canton Symphony Orchestra, Erie Philharmonic, and Paducah Symphony. Felipe studied at the State University of Campinas (Brazil), Indiana University, Cleveland Institute of Music, and The University of Texas at Austin.

He works regularly as an orchestral, jazz, commercial, studio, and solo musician in Cape Girardeau, St. Louis, Memphis, Nashville, Chicago, Austin, São Paulo (Brazil), and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).
