About Juliana Carr
Juliana Carr an introspective and playful new-folk songwriter with a powerful voice, which soars over her lilting, rhythmic, finger-plucked guitar. Her songs are “engaging, sincere with just enough quirk & wit” (Martin Vincent). Juliana is a multi-instrumentalist, her primary instrument being her voice. After years of classical training, Juliana strove to rediscover her unfiltered, natural voice. The voice which emerged is refined yet untamed, beautifully conveying the raw emotion of her music and reflecting themes of emancipation and empowerment which often appear in her lyrical storytelling. Juliana is currently comprising a new EP of original songs titled "Anywhere But Here" to be released in Fall 2018. With the help of supporters on Kickstarter, she self-produced and released her first album “To & Fro” under the pseudonym Girl in the Yellow Hat in 2013. Soon after, she was featured on the online music venue StageIt.com and selected as a finalist in Sara Bareilles’ online cover competition. In November 2016, she created, directed, and produced "BLUE," a dance-driven theater piece involving paint set to Joni Mitchell's album "Blue," performed in its entirety by Juliana and her band at "The Living Gallery" in Brooklyn. Juliana loves to travel and plans to take her music on the road with fellow songwriter and partner Paul Lombardo, who accompanies her on upright bass. All the while, she continues to perform as a regular in Americana Mondays at Knitting Factory, BK and at various NYC venues such as LIC Bar, The Federal Bar, Cello Wine Bar as well as art galleries and special events.
