About Chantelle Constable

Nurtured by a background in classical music and the Great American Songbook, Chantelle Constable’s supple soprano voice has taken her from studio to stage, from Kansas City to Atlanta to Budapest to Salzburg, from a 900-year-old church in Dobřichovice, Czech Republic, to starring as Fanny Brice in Funny Girl. Chantelle currently performs as the vocalist and Roland D-5 manipulator for cinematic synth rock band Echopod (“Artifacts” released November 2015) and as one half of the beguiling Americana duo Hotel Gypsies. Her most recent solo studio recordings have been a collection of classic show tunes, a set of Frank Sinatra covers in honor of his birthday centennial, and an EP of original songs in the singer-songwriter vein of Fiona Apple and Jennifer Knapp. Chantelle has embarked on an ongoing project bringing songs from 100 years ago to life for a modern audience. The first EP, working title "Songs from 1916," is expected to release later this year. As a solo artist, she is presently writing her own catalogue of neo folk and dark cabaret songs as well as developing an ever-expanding repertoire of pop standards, from Broadway to Laurel Canyon. In addition to delighting audiences with her turn as Fanny Brice in Manhattan Arts Center’s 2012 production of Funny Girl, she has lent her musical skill and natural stage presence to productions of The Rocky Horror Show and The Mikado, and most recently, as Toby in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. (Chantelle has also been involved with productions of Hair and Spring Awakening.) Chantelle resides in Manhattan, KS, with her husband (and bandmate) Justin, their three cats, too many books, and a massive “tomato jungle” in the backyard. Singer/songwriter, vox & keys for synth rock band Echopod, half of folk duo Hotel Gypsies, classical & pop standards vocalist. Singing old music for a new era!
