About Aya Gloomy
Based in Katoomba and raised in suburban Tokyo, Aya Gloomy’s authentic music and distinctive fashion has garnered acclaim throughout worldwide. Her songs are regularly played by Apple Music's Matt Wilkinson, and she has performed alongside globally revered artists such as Yves Tumor, Mykki Blanco, Ecco2k and Yung Lean.
Her debut EP "Ennui Ground"(2017) and debut album“RIKU NO KOTŌ"(2018)were released through the historic Shinjuku label BIG LOVE RECORDS. Following this she independently released an EP, "KANJIRU” (2019) and her most recent full length,“TOKYOHAKAI”(2021). The latter features a cover shot by bestselling Japanese photographer, Kyoichi Tsuzuki. Her latest releases sister singles “IRO IRO”(2022) and “SHIRO KURO”(2023), were released through Australian label record label 21 N FUN.
Aya has had feature articles inVogue Magazine,i-D Magazine and Sabukaru Magazine,and a cover story forIN magazine. In 2021 she guest starred in several episodes of Kiko Mizuhara’s Amazon Prime series, Kiko Kikaku. She is also the subject of Francesca Allen’s sold out photography book entitled “Aya”. Outside of the music world she runs asuccessful second hand clothing online store and pop-up, Pompom Shop, which has developed a cult following (including Mowalola and Heavn Marc Jacobs CD Ava Niriu), carried by Aya’s heady and pure sense for fashion
