About Ami Yares
Ami Yares is the still small voice, picking and singing across the room, bearing his soul to make it sound for you to do the same. Singing songs of pain, perseverance and hope, Ami’s music journeys in and out of the human soul, searching for meaning amid the world’s worries and wonder.
“Yares wields his 12-string guitar as if it were an entire orchestra, backing his vocals with a dense, rich cascade of sound " (David Foster, AXS).
This seasoned traveler’s voice emerged while living along the coasts of Cape Cod & the Mediterranean and learned firsthand the power of music to heal and hope-raise. Traces of Jim Croce, Bill Withers and Robbie Robertson pass through his melodies as well as whisps of Jaffa and Jerusalem where Ami once lived. Called, “one of Woody’s children” by Peter Yarrow, Ami also carries the mantle of recognizing the urgent calling to unite and speak truth to power with song.
With the past at his back and the future calling, Ami is more than just present when he performs. Ami’s music brings both the old and new; the traditional and contemporary; and the east and west into focus through poignant and universal themes. One can’t help the feeling at home in Ami’s music no matter where you’re from. Ami’s old new music is for a borderless world. Come and lend your senses to a song of Ami’s and feel for yourself his music’s tribute to the brokenness and beauty of life.
