Sakhalin

It started out as an experimental postrock trio with Pink Floyd as a main insperational source. A 3-track demo was recorded and short after that, the recruitment of an second guitarist were made. The early years of Sakhalins history were rather innocent mostly due to the young age of all the members but they were at the same time filled of experiment and a need to make music that meant something. Not necesarily to the listners, but to themselves. During these years a lot of smaller gigs were played and the new quartet started to define their show, with no front-light, a lot of smoke and scenery of incense and old vintage lamps. A couple of more songs were recorded including a rehearsal video exclusively for the Facebook post-rock page, some live shows and two never finished songs. In the middle of all this their bassist Erik left the band for studies abroad and the now once more trio were left hanging. After a few months a new bassist were found. Alexander joined the band and they started working on new material for their upcoming EP "mourn". Before it were recorded Sakhalin went on a short local gigspree to play in their new bassist. This in retrospect led to once the EP was finished they were all so sick of the songs that they refused to play it live. During the time it took to record the EP, new fresh material were created with a new defined and polished sound. And a realization had appeared that to get somewhere, a higher gear was needed. Sakhalin has found it's own style in keeping somewhat with the old, it's now a doomy progressive post rock quartet with inspirations from the east that brings on the beauty and heaviness of a massive black hole in outer space.
