About Emma Ejwertz Music

I am a Swedish singer/songwriter/guitarist with my roots in Bastad, Laholm and Halmstad, in Southwest Sweden. In recent years I have been living Los Angeles.

I have been writing songs since I started listening to Fleetwood Mac, Janis Joplin and Nirvana in my teens.

My first band was a punk rock all-girl band called Wild Cherry. We were only 15, but had a lot of aspirations. It was hard to play in a teenage band with all girls, but it was a great experience. We played the entire Hole and Nirvana collection, because I had a huge crush on Courtney Love at the time. We also wrote a many original songs, and that’s when my songwriting skills started to develop.

I studied music at Performance Arts High school in Sweden before I came to Los Angeles as an exchange student. I was lucky enough to be able to stay in the U.S. and pursue my dream.

Funny thing…when I was 20, I got the opportunity to audition for Courtney Love's side project, “The Bastards”. Courtney was opening up for Jane’s Addiction and looking for a lead guitarist.

A year later I was contacted by Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver) and Douglas Grean (Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver, Sheryl Crow), whom I performed for at their recording studio in Burbank. They were excited about my music, and began recording a demo for me. Scott and I ended up recording a cover of “Heart Shaped Box”, where he sang backup. He sang backup on other songs I wrote as well.

After that, I had some cool opportunities to work with very talented musicians and producers in Los Angeles, including Steve Gryphon (Gavin DeGraw, Avril Lavigne, Lisa-Marie Presley).

This past year I have been blessed to work on music for the TV show “Dirt”, starring Courtney Cox. I sang the main title and have a number of songs featured in the show. I also have songs placed in Tv shows like Starter Wife and Bones.

I recently left my other project, Nerviosa, to fully commit to my solo career. If you like you can check out another part of me, please visit www.myspace.com/lanerviosa. The music is best described as a cross between Bjork and A Perfect Circle.

It's tough to make yourself heard in Los Angeles with so much talent and so many driven people, but I love to be part of the whole mess. It’s frustrating, yet amazing at the same time.

I often write on acoustic guitar, although I prefer the electric. It’s much more challenging and interesting. My favorite pedal is the Line 6 delay and I play through a Fender Deluxe. Love that combo! My acoustic guitar is a Taylor.

I'm always interested in putting together/playing shows with other artists as well, so if you have anything that would be a good fit, please feel free to contact me.

Thank you for checking out my page and I love to hear any thoughts our comments you might have. Stay tuned for future shows around the Los Angeles area...
