About Tim McBride & The Divide
Whether it's a full blast rock and roll evening or an intimate acoustic solo performance, Tim McBride has been standing on stages and putting his words through any PA that will rise above the chatter and bar noise for over two decades. Growing up in the East Bay of California, he started his first band (Loose Bearing) in 1995 and over the next 5 years, he was able share the stage in various outfits, with notable punk bands such as (The Vandals, The Distillers, DI, Social Unrest, The Business, Groovie Goulies ,Hi-Fives, Link 80, Nerve Agents, and more.) Since relocating to Washington in 2000, Tim has toured up and down the West Coast and across the US in various musical incarnations (as a solo act, and fronting Olympia punk band Hook & The Daggers, RootsPunkBlues band The Deep Wile and most recently Seattle punks, The Snubs.)
With an engaging and urgent performance style paired with memorable (and thoughtful) songwriting it’s no wonder Tim’s bands have garnered critical praise. From Hook and The Daggers This is Ballroom Thrash (2005) receiving positive reviews in Maximum Rock and Roll, AMP, Razorcake, Punknews. org, Nerve, SeattlePunk. Net, etc. to Warning Track being voted Weekly Volcano’s Best of Olympia Punk Band 2012. More recently, In 2015 The Snubs were featured on Seattle’s KEXP radio Music That Matters Podcast and their debut LP 2016’s The Snubs listed on KEXP radio Top Ten List Spotlight.
In over twenty years of creating and performing music, Tim has always done whatever it was that he felt like doing, eschewing trends or sticking with one "brand" in favor of a musical exploration that continues to evolve to this day. His latest album, 2018's Tim McBride & The Divide (release date tba) is a rootsy rock n' roll synthesis of many influences that falls somewhere between early Stiff Records artists (e.g. Nick Lowe, Elvis Costello) and good old American rock and roll (e.g. The Blasters and Tom Petty).
