Tedeschi Trucks Band

You always take a chance with an outdoor venue, such as this one. It rained for hours. The entire concert. But the worse part is that the band, instead of doing all their songs, (and they have so many to chose from) , they spent most of the time taking eternal solos that seemed to go on forever. I mean, do take a solo but that was basically a jam session and they lost the crowd. Many left, waiting for the songs they wanted to hear. Instead, the solos went on and on and on. Play your tunes, get as many as possible out in front of the crowd. That's too bad as Susan and Derek along the incredible talent they had could have made this concert fabulous. But they chose to just go on forever with boring 1/4/1/5/4/1 or even less of jams that's lasted forever. We ended up leaving after an hour.

You can’t say enough about the talent and professionalism of Derek & Susan. Awesome concert! TTB is such a hard working group. They put on a fantastic show. I really liked the way that they showcased the members of their band at certain times. I can see why these members have been with them for so long. They are treated like family. You could really see how happy Susan and Derek were for them when the crowd gave the ovations they did. I hope they’re back soon!

This was in the top 3 concerts I have attended in my life and I have attended hundreds, so that says a lot !!! Due to the opening act being cancelled, we were treated to an extra long 2.5 hour session but time just flew by as we were all mesmerised by the magic of Derek Trucks guitaring, Susan Tedeschis amazing voice and the absolutely mind blowing talented horn section, keyboard player, drummers and backing singers. Just one word - WOW !!!!

Fantastic show with so many different sounds coming from different configurations of the band; instrumental solos, vocal acrobatics, and top-notch musicianship, as usual. Susan covered Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me” accompanied only by piano and it was amazing- could have heard a pin drop in the (massive) room. Derek shredded as usual, but added some new sounds, maybe inspired from North Africa. They closed their regular set with “Bound for Glory” and it moved me to tears. Spectacular! One of the best touring bands in the world, no doubt.

The Tedeschi Trucks Band did not disappoint from the stellar guitar paying of Derek the fantastic voice of Susan and the amazing dual drum solos . I went to both performances and I cant tel you which night was better. Little Feet blew me away as well these aging gents can still rock the house . The security at this venue is out of hand no dancing no standing around we were constantly harassed by the Hard Rock security Staff . Other than the that it was a great event.

A great show by a great band, using a great venue. Only complaint was the fans. Derek Trucks put on one of the greatest performances I've seen (I've seen 100's), but many in the audience did not stand, and did not dance. In fact, I very sadly heard a couple of people in the audience yell at people in rows in front of them to sit down.

Great Venue. Not really a bad seat to be had. Ridiculous drink prices though. TTB just gets better and better with age as they evolve as a band. This show was #17 for me. I have seen shows from smaller theaters to large outdoor festivals since 2013. This show was probably a top 3. 19 songs were played that night. I am still waiting on some more of Sue's old stuff (Revolutionize Your Soul, True, Rock Me Right, You Got the Silver, etc) and less of other people's covers but never disappointed. I was with 3 other people and it was their first time seeing TTB. They assured me that it will not be their last. Pretty much sums it up - you cannot but enjoy yourself to outstanding musicianship when you attend a TTB concert.

Any stellar show from TTB, as expected. The whole band was very tight. Derek and Susan obviously really respect their band members. Derek's solos went right to my soul, as always. Susan't voice was powerful and her phrasing was fantastic. I have heard her play leads before, but there was one lead in particular (and I cannot for the life of me remember during which number this was), which was most definitely the best solo that I have ever heard her take. What a great night!

The band was sensational. The overall sound was electrifying from start to finish. Derek's tone and expressiveness are unmatched. Susan's voice is sublime. Mike Mattison absolutely rocked too on the songs he led. Every member of the band, in fact, is a virtuoso and it was wonderful to see the backing singers and instrumentalists get their moments to shine too. A stunning two hours of the highest quality live performances you could hope to experience from a band who were as tight as they were creative and energised. It was an honour and privilege to be in the room. But I'm still going to complain. The band took the stage at 8pm, with no support act preceding them, a trend that's becoming increasingly prevalent at gigs these days. Still it caught me out and I missed the first 20 minutes of the gig. The venue had oversold the balcony tickets and I didn't get the seat I'd paid for. I'm getting too old to stand for 2 and a half hours (the band took a 30 minute intermission) and was looking forward to enjoying the gig in a seat. Lastly, the band refused to play Midnight in Harlem, despite the crowd pleading for it throughout the gig. That seemed churlish given that they might not be back in Scotland any time soon and the audience clearly wanted to have the opportunity to hear that iconic song live. I was certainly very excited about that prospect. There should have been nothing but elation in the air walking out at the end of a set from such outstanding musicians. Denying us our chance to hear that timeless song live created an unnecessary feeling of confusion and disappointment. Still can't fathom why they did that.

Absolutely phenomenal Wheels of Soul show! Was great to see Los Lobos. All the musicians were unbelievable and truly talented, the TTB and Gabe Dixon. I could have listened to more Susan and Derek… ♥️ But thanks to everyone, it was a great show, was worth every mile for me, as I live in So Cal, but needed to get away. Can’t wait to see them again!

This concert as so good! Everyone on the stage was a rock star. Los Lobos still rock hard after all these years. Haven't seen them since about 2003 or so and they still kick butt. When everyone was on stage together it was just so fun. Tedeschi Trucks are one of the tightest groups around, everyone is great with no slackers. How he plays that slide always amazes me. They played a great variety of music which was great as well. As with the last show at this venue - the light flashed out into the house SUCK! No one really wants to have a bright white light or stobes shining repeatedly in their eyes throughout a set causing you to have to close your eyes and not see the performance. I was really glad each time one of the films came on the screens because I knew the damn lights would not come on. They do not add to the ambience and the strobe effect is even worse than the ones that just roll through/up and down the house. They are so bad, they make me hesitate to get tickets for this venue in the future. I'm going to try wearing a ball cap to the next concert to see if that helps, but be aware, they totally suck and if you are light sensitive, you will not be happy with them. DO BETTER GRAND SIERRA!

An enjoyable evening at this great outdoor venue. I think they need to tinker with the sound, because I thought the drums and bass overwhelmed the horn section. The guitars are mixed pretty loud, especially Derek's, and I would agree with another review that mentioned too many slide solos in songs where they were not really needed. Having two drummers, both of whom seem unrestrained, dominates too many of their songs, many of which can get pretty frenetic. Derek is a great guitarist, and Susan a very good one, but his solos are very much in that 70's "more is more" mode. Too many demonstrations that he can play really, really fast. The ambitious new material is variable in quality. The crowd seemed to really like the back-to-back Derek and the Dominos tunes: "Bell Bottom Blues/Why Does Love Have to Be So Sad" more than some of their original songs. Opening for them was Los Lobos, who despite being one of the most talented rock bands in the US, has never become a major act, despite having two excellent guitarists and great material. They were received well and in their hour-long set managed a variety that would provide a good overview to the younger members of the audience. One highlight was Susan and Derek joining them for a newly relevant rendering of Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On."

The band was fine. Though the sound system they used was only mediocre at best, with a lot of high-end breakup. The first hour was good, with Susan’s voice purring snd then soaring over the loud band. Her occasional numbers playing lead guitar were a welcome change from Derek’s sound identical leads in every song. He’s technically gifted but is in need of some imagination and new sounds going forward. Simply put, he’s boring. Speaking of which, the band played an interminable stretched-out version of “Pasaquan” which, believe it or not, included a drum solo rendered triply bad by there being three drummers. Drum solos were passe by 1971 due to, well, them not being actual music.

We felt like the show was alright. Not as good as the last time we saw them. Seems like there is a lot of Derek on slide and not enough focus on Susan. They don't need a slide solo in almost every song. We'll think pretty hard about going next time. As far as the venue, more refreshment areas. Lines were long. More merchandise areas. Lines were too damn long. And what a surprise when my wife was not allowed to bring in her purse. It would have been good to know that upfront.

I have been going to this band live since 2015. Their playlist started out with absolutely no energy. Very different from the past 7 or 8 concerts we’ve seen. I understand they want to get their new material out there but it didn’t have the same TTB vibe. To slow and somber. Maybe a result of COVID and other social issues ongoing today. We go see this band to be uplifted and entertained, last week the TTB experience fell short for both of us. I do hope they rethink their playlists going forward with the songs that propelled their success. I still love TTB and will always have them at the top of my playlist.

Without question the best band in the land. I am always amazed how a band of 12 fantastic musicians has the ability to tie in all of their talents and create such a beautiful experience. Everytime I see them I'm left with a smile on my face that just won't go away, and when it does I get another ticket to see em again to get that feeling back. TTB, better than any drug or drink. If you haven't seen them live, do It and do it soon so you can do it again. You'll be a better person for it.

Tedeschi Trucks Band - 1/26/2022 @ The Paramont Theater, Cedar Rapids, IA What an incredible band and a superb performance by them last night . The TT Band was very electric and had a large #performers, consisting of multiple: lead vocalists, background singers, different types of instruments, a multiple-horn section, and 2 drummers. Their songs were complex & multi-layered, and, of course, all of that driven at high-energy by the powerful, blues-driven wizardry of Derek Trucks electric guitar playing. The Band was still hauling along at full-speed 2 hours into their show, playing "Key To The Highway" (from Derek & The Dominoes/Eric Clapton's "Layla" album) and the crowd was going absolutely wild. In addition to their own songs, they performed several excellent covers of classic, long songs by the 1st incantation of The Allman Brothers. There was a lot of long jamming, including a drum solo & a bass solo. I felt like I was actually at a late 60's Grateful Dead show.

The music was great, as always! The only problem we had were the two drunk guys who stood up throughout the concert, blocking our view. We paid a high price for our great seats, but no one on staff monitored the behavior of rude guests. Usually, at The Majestic, staff members prevent people from taking pictures and videos, but last night, it was if no staff member was there once people were seated. That was disappointing!

They were ok. Derek trucks is amazing. Probably Susan as well, although she only played one song at the end But they are just not my taste in music. Too blah. I want more blues, more soul, more rock, more something, anything. It was too much rambling Jam along music. Great for greatful dead fans though. Maybe that's why they are so popular? I am not sure? To each, his own.

Enjoyed the show in general. Was an early birthday present for my wife. Blackberry Smoke was incredible. Fairly new to them. Tedeschi Trucks Band impressive, as usual. New keyboardist fits the band well. My wife and I got tired of the saxophonist though ... his show off solos lacked melody and were just too “freeform jazz” for our tastes. Thoroughly enjoyed hearing Mike sing more! Would have preferred a better closing song, but enjoyed hearing some of the newest album.
