Danger*Cakes

A tongue in cheek anecdote that lifts the spirits in times of chagrin, Danger*Cakes' third EP, Gloomy Girl (available on CDBaby.com) was inspired by the comically wry misadventures of Jamie Bahr, Danger*Cakes' lead vocalist and upright bassist. After touring through Texas and Spain as cultural ambassadors of Austin in 2016, performing at such festivals as the Hot Rod Standoff (Gonzales, TX) and the Pueblos Blancos Music Festival (in Montejaque, Ronda, and Grazalema, Malaga Province, Andalucia, Spain), misfortune found Ms. Bahr on a train in Paris on the band's way home from tour. A man rushing to get off the car shoved past her, pushing her off the train and setting forth a myriad of mishaps and intercontinental calamities. But you can't keep a good girl down for too long! Jamie Bahr is back to her old shenanigans as President of the Board of Directors for the non-profit organization, Girls Rock Austin, helping to empower ALL women and girls through music education and mentorship. Jamie "Shake 'n' Bake" Bahr is joined by Suna "De Luna" Wakem on guitar and Sarah "Double Shiv" Schiff on the drums. D*Cakes is about to blow out the candles on their seventh year of rocking and they continue to create a wall of sound fueled with unrivaled energy and excitement! In February 2017, D*Cakes made their triumphant return, debuting their new material at this year's 9th Annual Rockabilly Reunion (Lake Havasu, AZ), where the crowds were eating out of their hands, swinging in the rain! Most recently, D*Cakes returned home from their October Gloomy Girl Tour in New York, Massachusetts and Maine. Gloomy Girl was recorded and produced by Matt Parmenter at Ice Cream Factory Studio and is Danger*Cakes first departure from the horn heavy tunes of debut album "Dessert First" and sophomore album, Quarter Life Crisis. Special guest musician, Andrea Carroll is featured on violin on "Not Your Doll" and "Lovebites" while Jamie tickles the ivories on "Bruise Blues".
