The Silverwings

In the fall of 2009, Jeff Starace and Max Gazzarra met in a freshman year music class at CUNY Queens College. Jeff expressed his desire to be in a band to Max who later introduced him to high-school friend Chris Morales. Jeff and Max agreed to rehearse at Chris' house along with Pierce Jay and Bruno Mejia. After a few weeks Pierce decided that he wanted to work on acoustic songs and announced his departure from the band. Max agreed to switch from bass to guitar and Jeff recruited high-school friend Jonathon O'Buckley. With this lineup they performed at the school as well as the College Green. In January 2010, Max announced that he had only wanted to jam once in a while as opposed to making a band committment and soon after left the band. Shortly after Jonathon also announced his departure from the band and the band had to look for new members. In April 2010 one of Jeff's friends informed him of a bassist who lived in the area who has been looking to join a new band and soon enough Jeff sent a message to Sal Pisciotta to see if he would be willing to meet up and jam and by May 2010, Sal was their new bassist. The Silverwings continue to perform locally in the Queens, Long Island, Astoria and New York circuit along with other local New York Bands.
