About introspektra
In the Spring of 2016, the members of Introspektra united as an official collective following the close of each of their previous musical projects. The mix of Andrew Simbahon’s blues-rock guitar aggression from the school of Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan, Antonio Burruso’s colorfully moving basslines reminiscent of Jamiroquai’s Stuart Zender, and John Sabugo’s frank rhymes and rhythms inspired by The Roots and A Tribe Called Quest create a sonic stew all their own.
They have performed heavily in the Honolulu area and have been featured in Star 101.9’s Unsigned Hawaii and Made in Hawaii concert series. They had the pleasure of opening up UH Manoa's Aloha Bash 2017 headlined by Fiji at Andrews Amphitheater. On May 13th, 2017, the band released their self-titled debut EP. They are set to play at the Wanderlust Festival taking place in March 2018 at the Turtle Bay Resort.
Introspektra’s name is a play on the word introspection, one’s individual evaluation of their mental and emotional processes. Introspection, growth, and peace-finding are common lyrical themes in their music. Their arrangements incorporate the energy of rock, the syncopation of funk, the spirit of soul, and the grit of hip-hop to keep the music flowing, moving the listener.
