About the Defog

Our most recent LP "The Shadow Companion" is available on our website FOR FREE as a digital download. Just visit www.thedefog.com The Shadow Companion - 2011, LP By far the band's most eclectic and experimental album created to date, The Shadow Companion is a relatively short, yet extremely concise and cohesive grouping of songs, mostly from the electronic realm. View our shadowgraphy section for more information. Light Bright - 2009, LP A departure from the mood swings of their previous album, the band set out to capture a more energetic and light-hearted set of songs with a cohesive feel. This collection of 11 tracks has more in common with the 2004 Demo than Ebb and Flow, yet it still manages to take the band in a completely different evolutionary direction, stretching into areas of Baroque pop and incorporating the use of new instrumentation such as euphonium. Poppy, indie rock with a touch of melancholy describes the feel of this album. Ebb and Flow- 2006, LP After experiencing moderate success with their previous demo release, the band went into their home studio, spending most of 2005 writing and tracking what would become their 2nd full length album. Ebb and Flow, much like the name suggests, is a wave of emotions that range from soaring highs to chasmic lows. With a more experimental overtone than their previous demo, this collection of songs was made by a band searching for something unique. The album was well received and ultimately landed the band a live showcase on MTV's TRL in a live segment called "On your Radar". See the reviews on Obscuresound.com and The Daily Vault for a more in depth look. Sounds From the Stars – 2004, Demo This energetic four-song demo of indie rock tunes was an overall success that landed the band a semi-finalist position in Billboard's Independent Music World Series that same year. It also managed to put the band in the running for several Grammy nominations, as well as getting them airplay on several MTV shows. Edgy, powerful, and emotional are good descriptors of the songs contained within. Dying in Crosswalks - 2002, LP An eclectic collection of songs with a wide range of musical styling, Dying in Crosswalks is the archive of a fledgling band learning the ways of their craft. With hints of electronic generated sounds, loops, and vintage keyboards, this album helped the band solidify their sound and instrumentation for both live and recorded performances.
