Known for his euphoric live performances, deep and infectious music, and his extraordinary work ethic, Luke Clerkin is an artist to be reckoned with. With a career that has seen him famously play over 250 gigs in 2015, gain international recognition through multiple tours, festival appearances and chart topping singles, Luke is showing no signs of giving up. Over the course of his career he has appeared at such festivals as Electric Picnic, Body & Soul, Stendhal and Edinburgh Free Fringe, and he has headlined venues all over Ireland including Whelan’s, The Workman’s Club, The Cobblestone, Hole in the Wall Kilkenny, and John Lee’s in Tullamore. Luke has also toured Germany on multiple occasions and has toured Ireland with The Circle Sessions and Cycle Against Suicide.

The two time Sports and Cultural Council songwriting competition winner has gained support from industry stalwarts such as Luke Concannon of Nizlopi fame, with whom he has forged a supportive relationship as a friend and mentee. Clerkin’s music, which has seen him work with highly renowned producers such as Declan Legge, Gavin Doyle and Berlin’s jaako, has been featured extensively on national radio and television. Whilst each of his releases have also received critical acclaim from music bloggers and journalists all over the world.

Coming from the working class area of Tallaght in Dublin, Luke wears his heart and his hometown on his sleeve, using his music to not only escape his own struggles with mental health, but to also help others with theirs. The current North Clondalkin Library Musician in Residence released his ‘Live From The Library’ EP on February 24th. This release marked the beginning of a new journey for Luke’s music, showing his songs in their purest form, with vulnerabilities and imperfections included. The EP was launched with a sold out show in The Workman’s Club on the night of the release.

Fresh off a successful co-headline tour with Bríd Lyons in late May, Luke is now working on his long awaited debut album, ‘Orpheus’, which is due for release in the first half of 2024. He is also working on building a fanbase in London and he will co-headline West Hampstead Arts Club on June 15th with Naosán Moore. He is also set to play The Works Festival on August 12th with more festival dates to be announced.
