In 2013 presenteerde de band zijn BRIGHT EP in een volle bovenzaal van Paradiso. LiveXS noemde het “een veelbelovende eerste EP” en was ook te spreken over de “het gebruik van synthesizers” wat “zorgt voor een authentiek geluid”. In 2014 is velvvet op zijn tweede EP gegroeid en geëvolueerd. De indie rock van voorheen heeft plaats gemaakt voor electronic indie pop. Digitale toekomstklanken uit de jaren tachtig zetten de toon. Alsof de retro-sferen van Julian Casablancas en The Temper Trap botsen op de donkere en dansbare vibes van The Sunshine Underground en Hot Chip. Place To Hide, Feel Just Fine, 8 Hour Drive en All These Different Places zijn nu uit via Spotify + Deezer + iTunes. Deze worden verzameld op velvvet’s tweede EP, genaamd ‘2014’. They released their debut, BRIGHT EP, in 2013 with a packed show in the small hall at Paradiso. LiveXS called it “a promising first EP” and was very positive about “the use of synthesizers” which “provide a very authentic sound”. In 2014 velvvet has evolved into something more. The indie rock now sits in the backseat, electronic indie pop has taken centre stage now. Digital future sounds from the eighties set the tone. Imagine the retro-ethics of Julian Casablancas and The Temper Trap colliding with the dark and danceable vibes of The Sunshine Underground and Hot Chip.
