Jay currently presents a GLOBAL Show on Forces Radio, BFBS (British Forces Broadcasting Service). ‘The BIG Show’ airs every Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday 4-7pm UK time broadcasts to 27+ Countries around the World and has an approximated listenership of around 16 Million per month. The Big Friday Show hosted once a week by Jay James & Hal Stewart made some what of the impact on the Forces Radio World. After airing just 2 weeks, a twitter campaign was started from forces fans who fiercely demanded to hear ‘more’. Within weeks ‘The Big Show’ was created, broadcasting Jay and Hal, three times a week, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday 4-7pm UK time across their new Global fanbase. Once a former Royal Navy Warfare Specialist turned Physical Trainer, Jay joined the military age 16 and was involved in the Afghan conflict and National Fire strikes whilst serving 10 years among Her Majesty’s finest before falling accidentally into a career in music. Despite a well documented successful career within the Military, Jay was a popular, well known accomplished allround sportsman, he also spent sometime as a ‘Royal Navy Role Model’ (and after finding music became the first ever musician to be granted such an honour alongside Olympic Gold medalist Peter Reed). Jay discovered his music talent after sustaining a knee injury playing representative RN Rugby League and bought a guitar as a drunken bet. Two years later he was scouted & signed by Legendary Record label, DECCA Records, Universal & Sony BMG as both a ‘Recording Artist & Songwriter’ after being spotted at his first ever headline London show. Since such point Jay has released ‘critically acclaimed’ debut album 'Play It By Heart’ featuring written collaborations with John Legend, Booker T Jones, Naughty boy and super producer Malay (Frank Ocean, Zayn Malik), his debut single ‘Long may they Roll’ hit the No2 spot in the Radio 1 RnB charts. Jay also wrote & featured on the songs "Fly" by Cinematic, released on Black Butter Records (home to Rudimental, Gorgon City and Clean Bandit) which Radio 1’s Annie Mac & Trevor Nelson described as a 'Summer Anthem’ and on ‘Broken Heart’ by Grammy Lifetime Award Achiever Booker T Jones. The song taken from the Album ‘Sound The Alarm’ featuring the likes of Anthony Hamilton, Gary Clarke Jnr and Estelle became Booker’s biggest UK radio hit since ‘Green Onions’ which went on to hit the No1 spot on BBC Radio 2’s A-List & remained play listed in the Top 20 Radio Airplay charts for a huge six weeks. Having received the highest of accolades from some of the biggest names in the World of Music & Entertainment. Jay gained his raise to commercial fame as a finalist on the 11th Series of The X Factor. As Simon Cowell’s Predicted Winner, the Music mogul who mentored Jay named him a ‘Genius’ after a particular performance of ‘500 Miles’ which ended up being the first ever X Factor Live performance to chart at No7 on iTunes. Jay went on to tour some of the biggest Arena’s and Music Venue’s in the UK & Ireland. Having been featured in the Top 10 of Heat/FHM’s Magazine’s Annual ‘Top 100 Hottest Men in the World’ & 3rd hottest man in Wales.
