About Andrew Baham & 4am

Andrew Baham has been determined to become a major force in the music industry. He began playing the trumpet at age 11, inspired by the discipline and appeal of the marching bands in New Orleans. From that time on, Andrew's love for music grew stronger. While in junior high, he started writing arrangements for the marching band, earning respect and accolade from his fellow band members.

Around the same time, a friend talked Andrew into auditioning for the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (commonly referred to as NOCCA), an arts high school in New Orleans with a long list of acclaimed alumni. At NOCCA, Andrew received lessons from Ronald Benko (of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra), renowned trumpeter and educator Clyde Kerr, Jr., and Grammy Award Winner Nicholas Payton. In 1998, he received an endorsed trumpet from the Yamaha Corporation of America and became the first recipient of the Doc Cheatham Memorial Scholarship.

Baham has performed with artists Mystikal, Mannie Fresh, Grammy Nominee Los Hombres Calientes, Adonis Rose, and The Ellis Marsalis Quinet. He has produced albums for The Stooges Brass Band (It's About Time, Thursday Night House Party ), Big Sam's Funky Nation' (King Of The Party, Evolution), and others.

He has recorded with alto saxophonist Darryl Reeves, The Original Tuxedo Jazz Band, the Soul Rebels Brass Band, The Lil' Stooges Brass Band, and Big Sam's Funky Nation.

It is described as the unveiling of the pathway to truly understanding the supernatural world. That time when true revelation happens. Where our awareness of our higher power manifests itself into the opening of our third eye...

That is the best way to describe Andrew Baham's newest group, 4am. "The name actually came from a certain revelation that I had," says Baham. "I've played professionally in just about any musical setting you could think of. One night, I was on the gig and I noticed the many people who were not only very attentive to the music, but there were people who were dancing also. It gave me an epiphany: All this time I was trying to create music to do one or the other, instead of letting the music be what it is."

The upcoming album will feature a 11 piece band, original compositions and even some less-than covered material, with guests from Tonya Boyd-Cannon, Stooges Brass Band, Big Sam Williams (Big Sam's Funky Nation), and many more.
