About Akarusa Yami

Akarusa Yami are currently a four piece melodic technical, progressive metal outfit from Nottinghamshire, comprising of founding members Tom ‘TK’ Clark (guitars – also of Deathflux) and Adam ‘Tweak’ Jones (drums – also of Scarlet’s Wake) along with Jake Bennett (bass) and Julia Goatly (guitars). The band are still seeking a new vocalist or vocalists to complete the line-up. 2010 saw the birth of Akarusa Yami from its metaphorical artificially inseminated mental petri dish, from the bands inception the goal was to combine styles, experiment and push unconventional musical ideas into something new and exciting, pooling inspiration from a mass variety of influences ranging from metal and rock to electronica and classical. 2011 saw the band release their debut EP ‘Ouroboros’ to glowing reviews across the world, Picking up solid coverage in Terrorizer (UK), Zero Tolerance (UK), Metal Hammer (Norway), Legacy (Germany) and many others, the band’s profile quickly grew. Their debut singles ‘Third Eye, Wide Open’ and ‘Millennium Is My Salvation’ were picked up for national airplay in over 11 countries throughout Europe alongside copious amounts of airplay on various internet stations across the world. Their second EP ‘Trace Element Rebirth’ was released in early 2013 to mixed reviews, it’s a record the band now sees upon reflection as them finding their sound, Trace Element Rebirth’ along with ‘Ouroboros’ was mastered by acclaimed engineer Tim Turan (Plan B/Emperor). In 2015 the bands first full length album ‘Heavy Climb’ was released to positive reviews, the album marked a new step for band, refining their sound and writing. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered in house by Tom with assistance from Adam, apart from the drums which were recorded at Stuck on name studios. Akarusa Yami have played a series of successful live shows including Bloodstock Open Air Festival in 2011 and again in 2015 along with UK Tech-Fest. In 2011 they supported Textures, The Ocean and Aliases at Nottingham’s rescue rooms. They have graced the stages of the now sadly defunct Trondheim Metal Festival in Norway in 2014 and 2015, alongside the likes of Behemoth, Sabaton and The Devin Townsend Project. In the time the band have been together they have continually evolved both in personality and in sound, the current stage of their evolution is presented in the first full length album ‘Heavy Climb’.
