Richard Santana started his DJ career at the age of 15 at Xenon in Portugal and went on to his first residency at Greens Nightclub the following year. It was in South Africa performing for big events such as Mother and ICE Productions that he was discovered by promoter and organizer Peter White and his DJ career took off. In March 1999 he won the prestigious South African DJ of the year competition. With both local and international judges, the competition included some of South Africa’s finest DJ’s, playing to an audience of 6000 people. Richard Santana continued to surprise his fans and was honoured as DJ of the year for two consecutive years, accepting the People’s Crystal Awards for best DJ in 2000. In 2005 he entered the DJ MAG Top 250 at number 241. Richard Santana currently holds his residency at Truth, which is considered Johannesburg’s top Dance Club. Known for his huge contribution to the Trance scene in SA he has had the opportunity to play alongside top internationals such as Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, Carl Cox, Judge Jules, Pete Tong, Junior Sanchez, Nick Warren, Sasha, Jon Digweed, Yves De Reuter and Dave Seamen to name a few.
