About Contravene

There is more than one band named Contravene. 1) Contravene was a '90s-'00s crust punk/peace punk band. 2) Contravene is a UK rock band (some of the playable songs on this page are by this band). -
1) Contravene was an American crust punk/peace punk band formed in the fall of 1999 in Phoenix, Arizona and disbanded in 2005. They were a dualsex-vocal anarcho-punk band with a unique, classical Black Sabbath-style heavy metal influence and somber, peace-oriented lyrics influenced by Doom and Omega Tribe. They shared strong Durkheimian beliefs about mechanical solidarity, as well as egalitarianism, animal rights, environmentalist Anarcho-primitivism, pacifism, anti-pornography, anti-police, anti-racism, anti-homophobia, and most memorably veganism, all results of Libertarian Socialist lifestylism. Even though there was "a lot of negativity" in their lyrics--since most of them were about problems and concerns that affect most of us on Earth on some level--they hoped that becoming aware of these subjects allowed people to make changes in their own lives to help improve conditions for everyone, to increase solidarity among one another and to make the world a better place.
2) The music featured on this page however with the tracks "End in Tears", "Kerosene", "Twin-Bladed Kiss" and "Place Your Bets" is the UK rock band Contravene.
