About Lena Rich

Credited with having, “a gift at capturing picturesque lyrics, an ability of distilling something complicated into something accessible to everyone,” (Meeko Israel, radio host, WOBC), rising singer-songwriter, Lena Rich, returns to One Longfellow Square on January 13th to celebrate the release of her debut full- length album. Rich produces upbeat rhythms and delivers poetic, emotionally charged lyrics with a truth echoed by her strong voice and acoustic guitar which she displays in her performances such as her opening set for Antje Duvekot at One Longfellow Square last spring.

Although Rich has been creating music since an early age, she fell in love with writing and performing her own songs when she got her start playing frequent shows at the Sugarloaf Mt. apres-ski bar, The Rack. Since then, Lena Rich has appeared at music venues and festivals around Maine including the Maine Acoustic Festival, where she worked closely with critically acclaimed songwriter, Anais Mitchell, to hone her skills. Fluent in a variety of genres (jazz, bluegrass and rock), Rich’s original music features these influences, although at the core of her inspiration are songwriters she grew up admiring, such as Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan.

As a music major at Oberlin College and Conservatory, she continues to work on her craft alongside world class musicians. Lena Rich Recorded her debut EP, “Slow Motion” in 2015 at The Studio in Portland, ME. Her new full length album was produced by Paul Thibeault with the support and talent of Maine-based musicians, Steve Jones and Bob Coswell of the Boneheads. Rich explains, “I love the feeling of playing my songs for an audience - I never know when or why a particular arrangement of chords and lyrics resonates with someone, but when it does, I feel the connection and that feeling is what keeps me writing and playing music.”
