About Campfires and Constellations
Guitarists Corey Bax and Charlie Smith started the band in Dunn, NC in 2010. Shortly afterward, they relocated to Chapel Hill to attend college, and picked up a few new members along the way: Ernest Thompson was recruited to play the banjo, while Stephen Mooneyhan and Daniel T. Perry IV joined on drums and bass, respectively. As college students, the C&C boys cut their teeth playing gigs around town. They built up their country music chops covering classic artists like Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, and Hank Williams, while also taking the opportunity to showcase and develop a growing repertoire of original music. As of 2014, the group stays busy playing regular shows across the Triangle area. Their debut album, Carolina Homegrown, was released in April of 2014. A head on collision between your grandpappy's favorite country records, your tattooed-uncle's dusty cassette collection, and a high-caliber rifle. Aw yeah!
