About Garrison Evans

My fascination for the creative arts has always been evident. Listening to music was one thing, but creating it and feeling it come out of me was a completely different sensation. At the age of three, I would sit in my living room and create an album on the spot. I pulled out a notebook, wrote down a song title, and improvised the lyrics and melody right then and there. My writing started off juvenile and status quo, but as soon as I began writing honestly and vulnerably, that’s when my writing became magical. As I got older and experienced life, my songs started to become deeper and more emotional.

I knew that there would be people out there going through the same struggles as I am and that the predominant way I got through it was through music. My music’s purpose is to provide a support system. I want to tell the stories that are reluctant to be told. I want my music to be an abstract medicine. I want those who listen to know that they're not alone in their experiences. I want to make people think and analyze the world around them and eventually find solace and catharsis.

Artistic expression is a beautiful and vital thing in our world. Exposing my art creates a rush inside of me and I have a gut feeling that my hard work is going to pay off no matter how big or small the audience is. I’m not making music to show off my voice or to go from rags to riches. I’m making music to tell stories that so desperately need to be told. I get to relate, connect, and heal others the way that music has healed me, and that feeling is truly amazing.

I consider my music to be a fusion of indie, alternative, pop, electronic, R&B, and folk, while blending acoustic and electronic elements. My main influences include London Grammar, Terror Jr, Troye Sivan, Ryn Weaver, James Blake, Bon Iver, and BANKS. I’m also strongly influenced by contemporary classical composers Eric Whitacre and Richard Burchard. Overall, my music usually consists of a chill, ambient sonic palette.
