About Sundae Girl
Freaky, sparkly, and pop-y. Grooves to make you sway.
Named after the Blondie song; Sundae Girl formed in 2016 in Halifax, NS with the goal of creating pop-y and psychedelia-infused rock. Recalling and reinventing sounds from bands like the Smiths, Prince, The Strokes, St. Vincent, and Iggy Pop, Sundae Girl own a sound that is modern and unmistakably their own.
Since their inception, Sundae Girl have showcased at Nova Scotia Music Week, Evolve Festival in New Brunswick, Into the Night festival in Halifax, won “Silver” for ”Best New Band” in The Coast’s Best Of, and have shared the stage with artists such as Mo Kenney, Said the Whale, Walrus, and Property.
Sundae Girl's upcoming debut EP with producer Adam Warren (Glory Glory) is a concoction of songs both new and aged, showing the band’s fun, melodic, modern, and retro likings. The first single “Sandbar” is a surfy-pop tune about a female protagonist at her wits-end with an inept partner. The EP was recorded at David Scholten’s studio Spaces Between in north-end Halifax with the final touches added by Brooklyn-based engineer Justin Gerrish (Vampire Weekend, The Strokes, Weezer). Sundae Girl is ecstatic to finally release their long-awaited baby to the world in Spring 2020.
