About The Curt Sheller Trio

I started guitar at 9 and have been too stubborn to give it up. Stick with anything long enough and you tend to get good at it. Hook up with the right teacher and mentors and get really good.

In the summer of 2003, I (Curt) fell in love with the ukulele and all its possibilities. My journey exploring the ukulele began on a CampFire USA trip to South Dakota planned by my wife, Bernadette. I'd searched the Internet for a small travel guitar to bring with me, and rediscovered the ukulele instead – after a twenty year break.

With my re-introduction to the ukulele after that 20 year break and taking advantage of my jazz guitar skills, I began pursuing the potential of the ukulele. Researching the field I saw very little material organized at a level that works for intermediate to advanced players. I have developed an international reputation as a ukulele expert having written over 30 books and over 600 lessons for the ukulele and 10 plus books for guitar. Check out my LearningUkulele.com web site for my author and educator side of a being professional musician.

I had the great privilege and honor of studying with Chuck Anderson for over 30 years. One of the most knowledge musicians I've ever run into. Mainly studying jazz and contemporary guitar, there was no subject off limits. We studied arranging, private teaching, 20th century harmony, performing and working with other musicians, and anything that would come up in the lessons. And, for the last several years I didn't bring the guitar and instead brought the ukulele. Chuck also helped with editing my books and on-line lesson material. Chuck was a valuable asset leading up to the recording of this CD with his help whipping the charts into shape and allowing us to record his great song Rain Shine.
