About No Longer I
No Longer I first formed in early 2008 by front-man Anthony Kranitis’s desire to continue writing original music after the break-up of renowned Goulburn band Vision the previous year. Not content to devote his musical talents solely to covers band The Morning After, Anthony teamed up with like-minded friends Nathan Frazer (guitar & vocals) and John 'Chino' Webb (bass) to create a band that fulfilled their musical and spiritual voices. After several months of writing, No Longer I performed their first gig at Liberty open-mic night in September 2009. No Longer I had a couple of drummers who never quite fit the mold and potential of the band, and so in early 2010, the band recruited the skills of Steve Kirton behind the kit. The band has a diverse sound lead by Anthony’s trademark vocal style and riff-writing ability, which is complimented by Nathan’s guitar and vocal harmonies, Chino’s low-end bass, and Steve’s heavy-hitting drumming. At their first gig as the final lineup in April 2010, NLI were approached by James Folk & Matt Rendell who offered them the opportunity to record at Big Sound Studios, Charnwood ACT. A short 2 months later, No Longer I recorded Hollow Ground, Refined Like Gold and Silent Years as a demo recording. The first recording sessions took several months to complete, and after this the band decided to write and record another 3 songs and release these as a 6-track EP. NLI hit the studio again in January 2011 to record 8 Years 7 Months 6 Days, Shadow of the Season, and Lions Don't Make Good House Cats. The 6 tracks were then subsequently mastered by Studios 301, Sydney. A fan of the band, London-based graphic designer Joe Manning, offered his services to design artwork for the EP entitled 'Hope Upon Broken Wings'. The 'Hope Upon Broken Wings' EP was released as a professionally pressed and packaged digipack in June 2011 and is available worldwide through iTunes and cdbaby.com Only several days after the release of the EP, No Longer I recorded a film clip in Goulburn for the song Silent Years. Produced & directed by Linda Rendell, with cinematography by Simon Cadman the film clip was released on YouTube in August 2011. The Silent Years music video was aired on Southern Cross Ten TV's Landed Music program in October 2011. 2012 saw No Longer I gaining a place as one of the Music Oz finalist in the genres of "hardcore/metal" and "rock" for three of their songs from their debut EP. Apart from doing the odd show, the band has been busy writing new material that will be recorded later this year. 'Hope Upon Broken Wings' EP Out Now!
