"Just another white girl duo. Ugh, I know. Sorry."
Pretty Sad White Girls (otherwise known as Lisa Bettencourt and Jillian Schiralli) is a musical comedy band based in New York City. They formed in January 2016 as an R&B/Rap acoustic cover band, performing smash hits from the late 90's and early 2000's. Recently described as "cherubs with phone bills", they've taken both music and comedy venues by storm, such as the New York and Chicago Sketch Comedy Festivals, Rockwood Music Hall, The Bitter End, Broadway Comedy Club, Bowery Electric, The Duplex Cabaret and Piano Bar, Stand NYC, The Secret Loft, and many more.
They just released their first self-titled EP, a harmonious journey through the nuances of modern culture but with a dollop of zip zap zop, if you know what I mean. Spice. Zest. Bop ski bop, you feel me? With songs like "Disney Fan at 35", "Rosé", and "Gentrification Song", they serve observational comedy with enchanting melodies and intricate harmonies to the forefront of the musical comedy genre, accompanied by an always-slightly-out-of-tune guitar.
