About Heavy Faces
In mid-2015 Isaac McCluskey (NZ) decided to take a leap of faith and shift from New Zealand to Europe. Eventually landing in the Netherlands through sheer chance and willpower, he quickly got himself involved in the local underground music scene, with Noah Ralph, an American living in Zwolle at the time. Heavy Faces was born soon after. Formed from a group of musicians that all attended Conservatories of Music, they made the conscious decision to turn their backs on the rigid structure that binds most educated musicians.
Blending an intense mix of neo-soul, rock, hip-hop and reggae with many elements of pop music that speaks to the younger generation, the band of Noah Ralph (USA) (drums), Richard Riemersma (guitar) and Jonathan Spruyt (bass) stand behind singer-songwriter Isaac McCluskey (vocals, keyboards and trombone), aiming for a fully immersive sound experience. Where others may choose the easy way, Heavy Faces goes for the most interactive, live experience possible. There are no easy ways out here. Just great musicians playing great songs and walking the line between serious and light atmospheres, to reflect a journey.
These are times of confusion. The generation that woke up with technology everywhere also wake up with a fresh identity crisis and a burning hangover. We spread a message of love for art, love for others, love for self. Music is one of the paths we have chosen to reflect our rage against the machine and our ongoing desire as artists to effect change. <3
