About Rupert Stroud-Singer Songwriter
Hailing from the wilds of The Yorkshire moors, singer/songwriter Rupert Stroud’s powerful, hounding acoustic/Indie rock and beat driven sound has been likened to Richard Ashcroft, with a swirl of Nick Cave, a splash of Jim Morrison and a sprinkle of Elbow. His sound oozes his trademark Northern passion with heartfelt melodies and sweeping chorus’s. Stroud has garnered attention from the music media with radio support from BBC Introducing /BBC 6Music, BBC Radio 2, BBC Scotland, Radio X, NME and Amazing Radio. Rupert’s last EP “Talk To You” hit no. 11 in the iTunes singer/songwriter charts. Amassing fans along the way playing to over 180,000 people in 2015/2016 Rupert’s broad musical appeal gained prominent support slots including amongst others opening the show for Texas, James Blunt, Little Comets, Jake Isaac, JP Cooper and Jamie Lawson to name a few.
Rupert is working with eminent British producer Will Jackson (The Kaiser Chiefs, Embrace, The Cribs). It was his work with Will that produced Rupert’s second album “Chasing The Night”. This was a breakthrough project for Rupert and saw him dubbed as one of Yorkshire's hottest young artists.
“Chasing The Night” took the internet by storm receiving rave reviews with online press and magazines.

The plaudits kept coming and they soon saw Rupert performing with his band on the festival circuit sharing the stage with artist such as James Blunt (opening the show at Dalby Forest N. Yorks on 26th June '14) TEXAS at Millennium Square Leeds, Little Comets, The Hoosiers, Gavin James, Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Jake Isaac, JP Cooper and US artists- Max Jury, Nell Bryden She Keeps Bees.
Rupert’s career has gone from strength to strength and his most recent releases “Never Back Down” and "Morning Light" have caught the ears of national radio, receiving radio play and plaudits from the likes of BBC Radio 2's Dermot O'Leary, Whispering Bob Harris, BBC Introducing and 6 Music's Tom Robinson, BFBS Radio and XFM. This led to Rupert and the band being invited by BBC Radio London and BFBS Radio for live sessions and interviews. Rupert also received his first US radio airplay on KX 93.5FM Laguna Beach California. His music video for “Never Back Down” won “People’s Choice Award 2013” at The 27th Leeds International Film Festival, beating 31 other artist entries and gaining 25% of the votes cast.
As a “Champion Spokesperson” for Alzheimer’s Research UK, a cause close to his heart, Rupert has raised over £8,000 to date through various campaigns and events including his charity single “Always”. The single was written in memory of his grandmother who suffered with Alzheimer’s.
As a media spokesperson for the charity, Rupert was recently interviewed by The Guardian newspaper talking about the tragedy of the illness and why he became involved. Rupert was also interviewed on Al Jazeera International News programme “Inside Story”, where the video for his charity single “Always” was broadcast.
