About The Blurst
THE BLURST is the solo project of LIAM PATRICK O’SHEA, a Sydney-based multi-instrumentalist.
O’Shea utilises a combination of surrealist lyrical melodies, guitars, synths, drum machines, a trumpet from the 1940s, plus dozens of effects pedals to create a kind of ‘retro-futuristic dream pop’.
Live, he employs a minimalist vocals-guitar-n-beats solution.
In 2016, his debut 3-track DOGDOG EP was unleashed upon the world with a show that featured the unveiling, and subsequent smashing, of a custom-made two-headed dog piñata filled with various sweets.
In 2017, the songs ‘Everything Is Frozen’ and ‘Spiders In The Speaker’ were both featured on BIRP! - the popular Texas-based indie rock playlist.
PSYCHIC CROSSTALK is the first full-length album by THE BLURST and was released on 1st April 2018 (no joke!). Its 9 genre-bending tracks were recorded to computer and mixed to 4-track cassette tape using a TASCAM Portastudio 424 between Oct 2016 and Jan 2018 in an inner-western Sydney apartment. Audiences minds were melted at the album launch show as SUMAN (of Dweeb City) and Blurst (of The Blurst) battled each other in the art of theremin at the midway point.
