About Dazee
Dazee is a drum and bass DJ, producer, label owner, broadcaster and original jungle pioneer who champions a jungle-jump-up hybrid style characterised by the warmth of her “Bristol Sound” roots.
Currently resident for one of the UKs largest dnb brands, Run and a regular player at major dance events such as Hospitality On The Beach, Love Saves The Day and Glastonbury, Dazee has been enjoying big 3-0 birthday celebrations for her label Ruffneck Ting. 2023 saw performances and takeovers in epic settings including The Arcadia Spider at Glastonbury, HOTB Ruffneck Ting boat party in Croatia and performances in LA and San Francisco.
Dazee’s career began playing “Hardcore Jungle Techno” at free parties and raves in her hometown of Bristol, UK. After paying her DJ dues queuing all night for sets in warehouses and fields, she teamed up with fellow raver, Markee Ledge to create Ruffneck Ting, now Bristol’s longest running jungle club night. The club soon evolved into a label and armed with her own dubplates, Dazee became a regular at all the major 90’s raves, including Universe, Dreamscape, Helter Skelter, and Hysteria. Her notoriety grew with performances with the likes of Stevie Hyper D, Bassman and of course MC Jakes captured on tape packs forever, plus featured mixes on BBC Radio 1, Galaxy 101, BBC 1Xtra and HTV’s “Sounds Of The West” TV documentary
Since then she has relentlessly pursued her jungle campaign on the airwaves and dance floors across the globe. Her signature lively, fluid and musical style has become a winner for fitness brands and world class stages alike. Don’t be expecting time to take a breath or big breakdowns during a Dazee set, you’ll be riding high on rolling bass, stepper style breaks and sample-based motifs from start to finish, with the occasional risqué bootleg blended in for fun.
While Dazee takes her production seriously, she claims her A&R duties have been made easy by the magnetic force of “Ruffneck Ting Vibes“ These have attracted the likes of Serum, Bou, Jinx, Saxxon, K jah, The Force and Euphonique to name but a few responsible for Ruffneck Ting’s 300 plus (and still growing) catalogue. Dazee’s own productions and colabs also feature heavily, as well as breakthrough artists, including sons and daughters of original Ruffneck Ting ravers, leaving Dazee no choice but to take on the role of mentor! To her surprise, this has been a reoccurring theme throughout her career, having been persuaded to teach her language of drums and bass at youth clubs, schools and now university.
So what’s lined up for Dazee next? As they say, there is no rest for the wicked, wicked junglist massive…She has two big album projects dropping this year, one with team mate, Euphonique on Jungle Cakes as part of their Welcome To The Jungle series, a mighty two hour mix and seven track ep colab. The other is the long anticipated Xtraordinary League Of Junglists Volume 3. Curated by Dazee, showcasing original and new artists as well as her own music, the series features unique label art designed by artist Ste Wright, and self-perpetuating stories inspired by his characters representing the label artists. Simultaneously the LP will continue the 30th year celebrations, letting loose all the music that features in Ruffneck TIng 30 sets. In addition you will be seeing Dazee bopping away behind the decks at events home and away, hearing her on the SWU, Kool fm and BBC Radio 1 airwaves, advising the next generation of basslovers and taking her original jungle label bouncing into it’s fourth Decade
