About minivandal
Saskatoon ska collides with punk-rock, reggae and Latin to form the horn-infused, high-octane party-machine known as minivandal! Although their name (and ride of choice) might not be considered “sporty” by some, it comes fully equipped with heated guitar solos (Everett Schwab), dual horns (Jessica Lipoth, Ben Fortosky), and an “extreme” keys/bass/drums system (Cameron Baribeau, Emmett Fortosky, Nathan Abramyk). Trumpet player Ben Fortosky drives the band, adding lead vocals and extra guitar to the front-end.
Whether they’re on the road or tearing up a stage in their home town, minivandal’s mandate is to get any crowd moving. The band’s fast-paced original ska-punk music is designed to shift a party into overdrive. Their sets are also fueled by Latin and rock songs that showcase both their musical and instrumental prowess. Topped off with a high-energy stage presence, minivandal’s live show creates a full-throttle party atmosphere that no audience can resist! Recently, the band has had the privilege of sharing the stage with notable Canadian acts My Son the Hurricane and Apollo Suns, as well as international touring acts Moon Hooch and Naughty Professor.
In 2019, minivandal decided to rev things up with a new single, “Down and Out”. Adopting the same DIY approach as their 2018 debut Turn Left Here, the band self-produced and recorded the track in their home studio. A music video and a comic-book tie-in for the single were also created. minivandal recently completed a Western Canadian mini-tour in the fall of 2019 to support the single and the comic.
The band is currently in the studio working on new material for 2020.
