Like molding clay, Jeymes Samuel stretches, shapes, and sculpts original stories out of unexpected elements. Equally adept in both music and film, Jeymes will reframe a traditional world like the Old West by placing an unprecedented emphasis on the black experience as he did in the award-winning The Harder They Fall. Rather than follow the standard hero, he'll adopt the perspective of a seeming bystander in the middle of extraordinary circumstances, which he does in The Book of Clarence. He's the rare enigma who is at home both behind the camera, directing Idris Elba and Bendedict Cumberbatch, or is sharing a song with JAY-Z and D’Angelo.
