Columbia Buffet

The music of Columbia Buffet is radio ready and plugged directly into the power of punk infused pop music. Their new songs “Tough Guys Don’t Dance” and “Everything Small (is just a small version of something big)” are fine examples of how intense rock music deserves to be married with the sugary sweetness of bubblegum pop. Both songs have that everlong glide to them and are soaked in summertime romance. This is incredibly sensitive music with wit and humour slipped in ever so cleverly to give the pain of it all a nice neat frame, but don’t be fooled there is darkness here and it screams at you with the intensity of a Jeremy Enigk spiritual angst explosion. It makes you want to party and sit alone in your room and cry endlessly over girls named “Heather” and “Suzie” but most of it all it makes you want to dance. In 2014 it is no secret that Columbia Buffet are the meeting ground between a rush of 90’s guitar rock nostalgia and future pop music for those who crave a healthy mix of arty and party.
