About Bird and Willow
Jared and Shiloh are a sibling songwriting duo born and raised in San Jose, California. They grew up at the intersection of Bird and Willow, and it's only fitting that their name reflects a sense of place and of their family roots. Jared and Shiloh began writing songs while living in the foothills of the Santa Cruz mountains.
Bird and Willow’s songs are vehicles for expressing emotions about life and relationships, telling stories about the people around them, and making sense of the world they live in. Pure and simple melodies are accompanied by acoustic guitars and lush string arrangements, along with a band made of close friends and other siblings. Since starting to perform live in the Bay Area, Bird and Willow has shared the stage with acts from across the United States and Canada including Sherwood, Fialta, Tyson Motsenbocker, Mike Edel and David Wimbish of The Collection.
Place to Land, Bird and Willow’s debut EP, showcases some of their most relatable stories and accessible melodies, with themes of relationships, growing up, and finding a sense of belonging and purpose. Produced by Rob Ernst (Fialta, Bonny and the Bang Bang, Hurricane Roses), the record will reminisce of songwriters like Jill Andrews with the transparency and melodic charm of The Weepies and a touch of pop sensibility akin to Dresses.
For Place to Land, Jared and Shiloh were joined by Bryan Valko (Bass) and Kevin Valko (Drums) as a core band in initial recording sessions, and filled out their arrangements with layered vocal harmonies, piano, electric guitar, and string arrangements. The title track has a comparatively stripped-down, live quality featuring the Valko Brothers on vocals rather than their respective instruments. Close your eyes and you’ll be singing along with the band in your living room.
