About The Fromps
The Fromps is a band from Illinois that takes inspiration from many things in life, philosophy, and the arts. This leads to noticeable versatility between, and often within songs in terms of both lyrics and music. Listening to The Fromps, or especially seeing them live, is like observing a pinball machine in an arcade. One second you're jamming out to Led Zeppelin inspired guitar solos and the next you find yourself jamming out to Karl Marx inspired lyrics about the pitfalls of capitalism. You don't know how you got there, but you're there and you appreciate the smooth transition.
Above our music, we are our brains and the chemicals that make us who we are. We aim to simply make people feel good and welcome in our presence. Our character and kindness is what is most important to us, and the band is really just a personal journey we're going through that we hope to include as many people in as possible. We're humbled by every opportunity we get to play shows or share our music with people as we are humbled to meet people themselves and hear about what they think, or even hear their music if they make it!
We currently consist of four guys who have all played together in bands before but The Fromps became a thing in January 2016. On June 11th that same year, our self-titled debut EP came out through Ryan's label, DA Records. That was the same weekend the mass shooting occured in Orlando, FL at the Pulse nightclub - one of the most shameful events in recent history. So, to this day, 100% of the profits made from that EP go towards the Orlando Relief Fund to help victims of the shooting and their families. We've also gone on a couple tours and have played many scattered local shows in IL, and we plan to keep up that pattern of gigging, it's really fun! We also have began working on our first full-length album, which will be titled "Change the World" and will likely come out in the spring of 2017, so keep an eye out for that.
Life has no meaning, so we make our temporary purpose to enjoy life and spread smiles as far as we can! Come hang out with us at a show, we're totally down to discuss politics and Albert Camus's theories of absurdism over coffee as much as we are to skateboard and listen to music over pizza and beer. It is our hope we can find the beauty in our scary, careless world and share it with everyone.
