About Broke City
Broke City, a rock ensemble hailing from Salt Lake City, UT, is renowned for crafting a sonic fortress through the strategic amalgamation of powerful guitars, dynamic melodies, and introspective lyrics. Embodying an intoxicating and gritty stage presence, the band, led by the impassioned vocals of Joel Pack, has garnered a fervent local fanbase and embarked on tours across the United States and Canada, sharing stages with notable acts like 30 Seconds to Mars, Thrice, and The Used.
Facing adversity during the release of their third album, "The Answer," amid Warner Bros.' absorption of Maverick Records, Broke City displayed resilience by independently launching the record to acclaim from a dedicated following who resonated with its emotionally charged themes. Drawing inspiration from both personal and industry encounters, the band embraced the ethos of "Earn it Yourself," aligning with the values of influential groups such as Thrice and Alkaline Trio.
Following a poignant "Farewell For Now" performance in 2010, Broke City took a hiatus, only to triumphantly return in 2014 with a reunion show coinciding with the release of their "Manorlands Project" album—a creation born in the seclusion of a winter cabin. With a resurgence marked by the release of new singles in 2023, and more slated for 2024, along with an upcoming EP, Broke City maintains an active presence in the vibrant landscape of local and regional music.
