About Lyceum

Lyceum was founded in early 2010 by the former members of three Bay Area metal bands and is currently writing towards its first album. The songs written since the available 2010 demo (recorded by Vincent Wojno, producer of Testament, Machine Head, High on Fire, Kreator, and Death Angel)have developed around the ethics of heroism, conflict, corruption, and empire, following a narrative written by the band. The band does not see itself in dialogue so much with the current metal community as with music, cinema, and art throughout history, combining a wide range of emotions and sounds using the devices of metal. The name Lyceum refers to the academy of Aristotle, the teacher of Alexander the Great, dedicated to Apollo Lyceus, pivotal in the history of western aesthetics, education, and philosophy. More pictures, videos, and information can be found at the band’s official website: www.Lyceum.at The name refers to the academy of Aristotle, the teacher of Alexander the Great, dedicated to Apollo Lyceus, pivotal in the history of western learning.
