About Mandy Pennington

Mandy is a 21-year-old singer-songwriter from Louisville, Kentucky. With a passion for self-awareness and authenticity, she brings a penetrating honesty to her lyrics. Her goal in songwriting is to further her search for herself and help others do the same. Her favorite kind of song is one that speaks truth that we know deep inside of us, but just don’t always know how to put into words. She believes in the beauty of vulnerability and encourages fans to use their own art to inspire and express themselves. Mandy’s music revolves around the raw vocal and piano, but she also enjoys writing light-hearted ukulele anecdotes on life and love.

Mandy has been singing for as long as she can remember, from dancing around the living room singing Veggie Tales with her dad at age two to being highly involved in musical theater in high school. She is classically trained in both voice and piano. She finds her greatest joy in creating, writing, performing, and sharing her stories with anyone who will listen. A proud INFJ and Enneagram type 4, she bottles and captures her feelings in her work and her life. She hopes her music can be a tool in making the listener feel understood, and helping them uncover and confront their feelings. She is inspired by artists such as Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson, who have done this for her.

Mandy currently has almost 50 songs registered with ASCAP, and continues to write daily. She released her first full-length album, “Kindling,” in 2016. “Kindling” is a thirteen-song record based on the discovery of self and soul, especially in the torrents of heartbreak. Later that same year, she released a four-song ukulele-based EP, “Aria,” which gave a cheery, summery vibe and a light-hearted look at young love. In January 2017, she released her first independent EP, “Enough.” The record was a seven-song reflection on the deep loss of love and its effect on self-worth. It was written, recorded, and mixed independently as a labor of love, and Mandy hopes it can be a place of understanding, and even comfort, to the listener as much as it was for her in the creation. She also has released multiple singles such as “Just For Now,” “Addicted,” “Impossible Us,” and more. Mandy also has produced music with her previous bands Highland (2014-2015) and A.M. (2016 - 2017). Her music can be found on iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp, Noisetrade, Soundcloud, ReverbNation, and more. She plans to release a seven-song EP in December of 2017.
