Shovels & Rope

We enjoyed what we heard from Shovels and Rope. The problem that we had, however, was that they did not begin performing until after 9 pm for what was advertised as a 7:30 pm show. The last email we received prior to the show did indicate 2 other artists would be performing, well after we purchased tickets. As a consequence, for us, we needed to depart halfway thru the Shovels & Rope set. It would be better if, in the future, the headlining artist(s) would come on at the stated time, in this case 7:30 pm, or at least much closer to the stated time. We really would have liked to hear the entire Shovels & Rope set, but were unable to. That was very disappointing.

Such a fun and interesting performance. Third time seeing them and its always fresh. Three new songs to open were fabulous. Their voices and musicianship are outstanding. I like their songs that evoke the south and their heritage best. There were times when I felt the “Sinners/Crossroads” vibe, like maybe the devil was gonna show up and try to cut a deal with them right there in the theater because their sound was so soulful. Goosebumps. Watching Cary Ann is a show within a show!

Beautiful show. It was wonderful to them seated in a very nice theater. Cornelius has a lot to offer.

Amazing performance, love this duo! My husband and I have been fans for years (our kids grew up listing to the O’ Be Joyful album) and we were thrilled when the Austin show was announced. Such a special experience seeing them perform live; charming, talented and authentic, one of the best live shows I’ve ever seen! Hope they come back to Texas soon 🤩, I’ll try not to sing along too loudly along next time , or at least I’ll sort of try, just so good for the soul.

First time seeing them live. Wow they could have played all night, love the style and the harmony of their craft. It was Special night.

Great show. Dynamic performance and their signature harmonies were fantastic. I only wish they had played botched execution. The new stuff is sounding good!

Second time seeing them…always a treat! Joyful noise…you can hear it in their music and see it on their faces! Amazing show!

What an excellent show! Cary Ann & Michael really brought it! Both are extremely talented and their chemistry is unmatched. Jeremie Albino was great, as well. He had an old school Rock & Roll feel that was very cool and effortless. Worth the wait!

Shovels and Rope are always a great experience. Though, due to the venue the audience interaction was lacking. Seemed like most people were afraid to really enjoy it. Thee guy are AMAZING live. Hoping they come back and play at The Van Buren or the Crescent Ballroom. Then they would really feel the energy they give out be given back. MIM is an amazing venue but too stuffy for this jammin’ duo.

Amazing show by S&R...only complaint is the usual people there that are constantly talking instead of listening to the band. I paid to hear them, not you. Shut up 🤐.

INCREDIBLE venue! Cedric Burnside was a great opener...Shovels and Rope were terrific...any of those three by themselves would be a solid night, but all together was special 🤘
